The Vidikron Model 40 is a killer DLP. $8000 retail, all discrete IR, 6500K mode, easy to calibrate, fantastic customer support (from Runco). This one is hard to beat.

I've been happy with my Sharp XV-Z12000U with my 100" Stewart Firehawk. I do use the IRIS to drop the light output, and use the low power mode to reduce fan noise. With it set up this way, the black levels are very good.

The street price on this projector is well below the 9K you've budgeted. In my opinion, you won't see much more performance out of the other projectors for the money, unless you want to deal with larger screen sizes.

Use the new Infocus SP7210 it will smoke the vidikron...you can find it for around $9k...I work for another company that has the SP7205 with the 100 firehawk on display and it is really nice, but the SP7210 will rock your world.

Digital Projection is a pretty good brand. I think they were once owned by IMAX. I would imagine that they would be good. They have many different DLP projectors. I have seen many different projectors and I was amazed when I found that LCD was better. There really is no such thing as screen door any more, and the colors are so much better on LCD. I picked up a hole amazing system for around 6500 at www.projectorpackages.com and it looked amazing on a 120" 16:9 screen. I would do a little more research on DLP and LCD before buying.

I would suggest the Sim2 Domino 30H. It's MSRP is $7500. Discrete ir for power, inputs and aspect, 232 port, hdmi port, and a great picture to top it off.

If you add $995 to your budget, Runco CL-710 ... Runco CL-510 $5995 ...

2nd to lowvolt....big time ..have identical setup .. cl710 on 100'" firehawk on demo.. never fails to impress no matter what the competition...Runco support is the BEST..many stories of way beyond the call....in business >32 years and have never seen ANY other company take such care of clients even when way out warranty as well as completely unjustified client desires.
