Well I got my DVP-CX777ES unit last night. Very sharp looking unit the pics I have seen really dont do it justice at all. I have a problem though I have an extremely old tv at this point, I knew I would have an issue hooking up the DVD player but was hoping that I could use the rca's on the back of the VCR as a work around. I dont really use the VCR but kept it just for this until I get my new TV. Unfortunately, I coud not get it to work at all and had to settle with just putting in a couple of dvd just to see what it will look like in the changer. can I get one of those a/v switchers will that work?? I really dont know what to do at this point except get a new TV.

will this work??

Trying to hook up a new DVD player, game console, or camcorder to a TV that only has an antenna jack? Terk's Mini Modulator is what you need. This compact, affordable modulator accepts the audio/video signal from your source component and converts it to RF for use with older TV sets. Hook up your cable TV or off-air antenna feed via the provided coaxial RF input; then, to select your connected A/V component, just turn it on — auto source switching does the rest.

The Mini Modulator can be wall- or cabinet-mounted for neat, out-of-the way installation.

Key Features:

1 A/V input (composite video and RCA stereo audio)

1 coaxial RF input (for cable or off-air antenna feed)

1 coaxial RF output (for connecting to TV)

channel 3/4 switch

wall-mountable

mono audio output

3-1/4"W x 4-5/16"H x 1-1/2"D

warranty: 1 year

Save the $30 and put it toward a new TV. You can get a decent size with component video inputs for your 400 DVD player pretty cheap these days.

Until then your vcr probably wont work because of copyright protection issues.

As for the terk, I sure wouldn't want to watch a movie in Mono.

I would hope hes running the audio directly to his receiver... Tis bypassing the audio anyway....

Terk also makes a version of that with 4 A/V inputs. Works Fine as a stop gap until yu get a new TV.

I do not currently have a receiver to hook up to when I got the unit I wwish I would have but dont. I got that unit any how as I needed something so I could use the unit as my tv is extremely old. lost the good TV when I moved out. hahahaha!!! I am not in a position where i could use the 30 buck for a tv right this second anyhow. I wanted to wait and get the one that I really want instead of spending a couple of hundred on something that I only plan on having for like 6 months or less give or take. Trying to be earth conscience.

Will this player play minin dvds?? I know that it will not play irregularly shapped dvds like retangle or heart but this is not a odd shape just smaller. the reason that I ask is that metropolis came with mini dvd algon with regular one.

I don't know the price on the Terk, but if you are spending more than $20-30 on a modulator, you are wasting money. Terk makes decent stuff, usually, but they overcharge as if they were a division of Monster Cable. There's usually a cheaper option of the same quality.

I checked out best buy .com, they have several, including a Terk, for $20. Looks like Terk is right in line on this product. There are more expensive ones that include a switcher so you can attach more than one device. That might be useful.

thanks!! I went to best buy and picked up that one the other day. I only needed it for the changer. I know it is like putting 92 octane in a pinto but sometimes it just works. hahahaha. I am not sure what kinda TV that I want so I decided to get everything else while I can and take the TV thing into consideration later
