Because of space restrictions, I might have to place the receiver on the side of the tv vertically. Do you think this will cause problems for the receiver?
Has anyone in here tried this before? Any problems?

Thanks,

John G.

John, you mean on its side? If so, there may be three caveats:

1) The designed-in natural heat convection may not allow for continuous high-level playing.

2) The magnetic field from the power transformer in the receiver may distort the TV's color.

3) The TV may induce hum and/or other noises in the audio circuitry of the receiver.

Thanksfor the response Larry!

I guess the best thing to do is to give it a try, and see what happens.

I bought an armoire with doors that slide back into the cabinet. Its really nice but the shelf below where the tv sits is only 6 inches high, so either I try to put it on the side of the tv, or put it underneath where I would have to open the doors below(they dont slide into the unit) everytime I want to watch a movie and then keep them open where they are in the way of the tower speakers. I guess I'll figure something out!!

You should put the receiver underneath and use a remote extend system like Xantech or Audioplex.

John, you could also try adding a hanging shelf above the TV if there's room. If not, you may be able to either raise the existing shelf, or remove it and try the over-the-TV idea.

Brainstorm: I read "Can a receiver be mounted vertically on a propeller shaft for ventilation." Gonna have to get more sleep.

You might try a pre/pro and hide the power amp
