I have been using a pretty old Carver amplifier (M200T) connected to the multizone jacks of a Denon 3300 receiver in order to power my outdoor and kitchen speakers. Unfortunately, the power supply died on the Carver, and it will cost $200 to fix it.
I am considering purchasing a new (cheap) amplifier to replace the Carver. Any ideas? Is there any reason to spend $200 to fix an 18 year-old amplifier?

Check out the SpeakerCraft BB835. 8 Channels and lots of room for expansion. I have 2 of these amps and a Elan 630 Pre Amp, Powering 10 pairs of speakers and I is the best thing I ever did. I could use 1 amp and use the multi channel from your reciever as the source input on the amp.
Good Luck Mike

Mike:
Thanks for the recommendation. That looks like a very capable amp, and I would very much like to one day expand my system using a multi-channel amp. Unfortunately, I have been informed by my wife that I am one pair of speakers away from being booted from the house. I have seen a couple of 2-channel amps that cost $300 or less, and I may go this route for now.
