Have any of you experimented with different surfaces under a 'bottom firing' sub. I have a small HT set-up in the living room and it is all carpet. I have a 'bottom firing' sub and I have heard that the surface the sub is setting on affects its performance.
Anyone tried different things?

I had a Cerwin vega "bottom firing sub" and that one started to move across the floor when i played loud. A couple of bricks made it stop. I had it placed over a carpet and directly on the floor but i didn´t hear any differences.
The biggest improvement was when i flipped the sub on the side and made it play back against the wall, then i was able to try diffent space between the wall and the sub.I kept it that position until i sold it.
