I had a Cerwin vega "bottom firing sub" and that one started to move across the floor when i played loud.
A couple of bricks made it stop.
I had it placed over a carpet and directly on the floor but i didnīt hear any differences.
The biggest improvement was when i flipped the sub on the side and made it play back against the wall,then i was able to try diffent space between the wall and the sub.I kept it that position until i sold it.
