Does anyone have any ideas on what speakers would be a good match for a Sunfire Cenima Grand amp? I don't want to over buy or under buy. I will be upgrading my pre-pro also. Any suggestions on either would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Brian

I have a Cinema Grand also, along with a Sunfire Stereo amp, 7-channel. (Stereo on the mains, Cinema on the center, sides, and rears)

For the pre/pro, If I had the money, I'd go with a Sunfire Theater Grand with no hesitation. I did not have the money, though, and right now I'm using a B&K AVP-4090.

As far as speakers go, there is not really one "best" speaker system. Speakers vary in sound more than any other component, so personal choice must be used, and there is no better way than listening.

I have a Definity Technology BP-2000 system: BP-2000 mains, CLR-2000 center, BP-X surrounds, used as sides, and a pair of BP-20's as rears.

The advantage of the Cinema Grand is that it can run power-hungry inefficient (low-sensitivity) speakers. Therefore, you don't have the restriction of having to buy speakers that play well with low-power amps.

So go shopping, at a LOT of places. Do NOT settle with the first system you hear, or at the first retailler you visit. The magazine ads can supply you with company phone numbers and web sites, which in turn can supply you with retail locations in your area.

Oh, one more piece of advice: stay away from the Bose store! (kidding, sort of)

The first time I listened to some Continums (Made by Green Mountain Audio) they were hooked up to a Sunfire Amp. I think they just offered a Theater Grand back then. Anyway I placed my order for a pair right then. I took some doing to find a center channel to match. They may offer one now. It's been a few years now and I still love them. The only drawback has been with the looks of them. I could care less what they look like but we know what those women are like. Larry has given good advise as to going lots of places & the like.---Best of luck. Enjoy--Dave

Here's a good way to judge how much you should invest in your speakers. Since you are talking about the Cinema Grand (I have one as well!), this will be for 5 speakers plus subwoofer. Take the total price of what you have on amps, preamp, television, sources, etc. Whatever that price comes out to be, that's how much you should invest in your speakers. Remember, your speakers are what actually converts the electrical signals into audible signals that we can hear. Hope this helps.
