This is my first Satellite Tv experience.

I bought used equip. in a house just purchased.

It (two receivers) worked fine. One day after receiving new bedroom furniture I lost odd channels.

Found out here to check connections and all was ok, until I went down stairs and noticed I only lost odd ch. after fixing connections upstairs.

I then went outside to check connections entering the house. Found a wobbly connection, fixed it, then lost ALL signal to both receivers!

All connections now appear to be ok but screens are black w/"searching for signal".

What did I do when I disconnected the line from outside? Did I maybe short something out??

Are you sure you have a dual LNB on your dish? If you have two receivers you must have two lines running from the LNB. If you only have one line going to a splitter, and then to two receivers, it will never work right.

If your connected correctly, it sounds like you have a bad LNB.

If you have a crimper and wire cutter, try replacing the coaxil connector heads. I recently added a receiver for someone and could not get a signal until I did this.

Also, try switching the cables at the LNB and see if that does anything. I would also disconnect everycable and then reconnect them. This means from the dish, the receivers, and any other spots where the cables are cut.

A good way to test the LNB is to get a small TV (if you have one) and your receiver and hook them up close enough to the dish so that you can run a new coaxil cable straight from the dish, through a door or window and to the reciever. I had some problems last summer when I moved my dish and I just took the tv and receiver outside so that I only needed a 25 foot wire. An rg59 wire (standard cable tv wire) will do for this purpose if you do not have any RG6 (standard satellite wire) lying around.


One last thing, try unplugging the receivers and letting them sit a few minutes and then plug them back in.
