Ok in the past I have flamed Time Warner for their crappy service and the like. Well it seems they are either listening or feeling the heat from the Sat providers. We recently got an upgrade for the digital service. Looks like HDTV is in the future for the area. We are now getting digital sound from some of the channels on the analog side. Last night I watched Rules of Engagement in Dolby Digital and it sounded darn good. They now have added Showtime HD & HBO HD to the channel line-up. Now I have to find out what it takes to get the signal to my tv.(I'm not sure I will let another of thier Techs touch my stuff) Any way I know this sounds like I work for them. I don't I'm just glad to see that they are ever so slowly getting better. What about your Cable company. Are they getting better or do they still stink. ---Dave

Dave, I don't have cable TV yet. Time Warner in my area prety much told my the contrary to what you stated. I guess I have something to look forward to. I live in Southren California. What part of the Country are you in?

Here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the cable quality is pretty basic. With a digital box, at $12/month plus min. of $10 for programming, we get digital signals on about 10 or 12 "extra" stations... the quality is a teensy bit better. There is no HD feed at all.

In most areas that TWC is carrying HD, you have to get a special Scientific Atlanta cable box. Reading over at AVSforums, most areas are still considered a test and the new boxes are very rare.

BTW, I'm just down the road in Southaven.

Anyone in NYC have time warner, are they carrying HD stuff. Just wondering who if anyone is carrying MSGHD since they always promo it before sports games. Neither directv or dish net have it, so are they doing yankee games in hd for their own viewing pleasure??

They don't offer a god damn thing. I have TW Digital Cable in NYC all we get is a few premium stations that offer dolby digital the rest is either analog or pro logic. I call once a month to find out when they are going to offer a HDTV box and the only response I could get was " I don't know, they haven't told us anything about it." They don't even offer Movies in letterbox or Dolby digital on Pay Per View.

TWC in NYC is still "testing" its HD. Here is some discussion on it.
