Where is UHF 31 (French analogue) located? I get it very weak at a bearing from my house that would put it somewhere around St Catherines or Welland. I thought it was a birdie but I get it on two altogether different sets.

Whoa...what happened to the Northern Vermont station lists?

CBS WCAX?!
NBC WPTZ?!
FOX WFFF?!
ABC WVNY?! (even though it's on VHF)

It might had been out of date, but all of the above stations are broadcasting.

Thousands of people watch these stations from Montreal Quebec, why was the information removed?

I am not sure but I highly doubt if you could get a St Catherines or Welland station from Ottawa.

I don't think they are receivable anywhere in Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec (maybe those in the far far east).


Montreal is in a different market. If you want to start a Montreal/Northern Vermont page, I believe I kept a copy of the previous revision for you to work with. I gave warning that I was going to remove this information on the previous revision and asked for someone to step forward to do this, and no one did.

Okay, not trying to hijack the topic here. The French-language station I'm getting very weak on UHF31 analogue is in the St Catherines direction from Caledon. Anyone know what this outlet is? Low power translator for the south side of the escarpment?

It depends how far west you mean by slightly west. Central Ottawa is in a depression that makes it very difficult (if not impossible) to receive American stations, but as you get further west (or south), the elevation gets higher and you have a better chance of picking them up.

I really don't know much about southern Ontario. This question would better being asked in the Toronto & Buffalo HDTV reception thread.

I'm sure my TV can receive the HD signal.

I'm totally depressed with this antenna. I can' get any HD signal. Even the analog channels such as CBC and CTV etc aren' clear.

I installed the antenna on my chimney. It's true there are a lot of big trees around my house. It's impossible to install my antenna high enough to void the tree. Most of the trees are more than 20M high.

Does anybody give me a solution how to receive the TV programs. I don't want to have VIDEOTRON, BELL etc.

By the way, I have another indoor antenna. It works better than the outdoor big one. Anyway, I can see CTV clearly.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I would imagine that analog's CTV and CBC in montreal are located in the VHF band , ch 2 to 13, and this is an UHF antenna ch 14 to ch 69 therefore it has poor performance on the VHF band. The tall trees does not help neither.

The indoor , probably a rabbit's ears , on the contrary, is designed for VHF so it will perform better on the CBC/CTV analog.

Double check your TV has a digital tuner and then re-scan looking for the CBC and CTV UHF digital versions. If you post your equipment maybe we can help you further.

There's a new DTV channel in Ottawa/Gatineau as of Monday, April 19.

Currently broadcasting a test pattern in 480i.

It shows as: "2-2", "Co 16:9"

Does anyone know what it is?

It is the Canada Research Counsel's (CRC) test channel. They are testing single frequency network broadcasts (broadcasting the same program from multiple locations on the same channel number) for mobile TV.

The problem is in Montreal all DTV broadcasts are east of Mount Royal so those on the west island are unable to receive them. The plan is to move most of them to the top of Mount Royal like the analog broadcasts, but they can't do that until some safety issues are resolved.

Is there space on the CBC tower...
