If fox HD is supposed to be on 14.1, what might be reasons why I cannot pick it up?

I am getting 29, 23, 17, 43.1 43.2 43.3, 49.1 49.2 all come in great. I also get a number of others from different directions, 2.1 and 2.2 WGRZ look to be the furthest away.
From the Map on this site I would guess my antenna is aimed in the right direction as I'm getting the above channels.
I'm using a DB8 mounted on a small tower that gets it above the roof lines in my area, and I am close to the lake in Burlington.

WUTV is channel 14 (14.1, 14.2) on the digital teir. I am in St. Catharines and I am getting a signal strgnth of 82-85%. However, my antenna is 50ft in the air and is slightly larger.

If you're trying to catch the 'big' game I hope you get it before it starts!

Good luck!

I moved my antenna about 2 inches to point it closer to due south, rescanned the channels on my TV, and found 29.1 (Fox HD) along with a few more channels I wasn't getting before.
Still could not find 14.1.
Of course the only Canadian channel I can see clearly is CBC HD, which should be good for Olympic coverage when it starts this summer.

29.1 is 14.1. 14.1 shows up as 29.1 due to PSIP.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!

Now it all is starting to make sense.
I am very impressed with the number of channels I can receive, along with the picture quality.
The New Pioneer plasma is looking better each day.

I wouldn't bend that CM4228 antenna because distorting
the pattern like that is sure to create some nulls. And
I almost hate to say it, but I've seen it for sale for
less than half that price.

Assuming you meant less than half of $120, where (in & around Toronto, according to your profile) have you been able to find them for that price? I only remember them being that (~$60) in New York and shipping would definitely kill any price advantage from that.

I never said I saw it in Toronto for that price. I ordered from here:

Mind you, once you add the cost of shipping it bumps it up a lot!

Hey guys, I'd like to join in on your discussion here,
but I need to grab myself an antenna first.

I live 5 kms northwest of the Hamilton airport (Lat/Long
of about 4314N 7954W). I figure I am about 65 miles from
ABC's transmitter in Colden, NY. I'd would like to pick
up the Buffalo HD OTA broadcasts (mainly ABC and FOX).
I live in 2 storey house within a subdivision and no
obstructions to speak of in any direction (other than
some nearby houses of course).

What antenna would you recommend for me?

I realize that your post was years ago.. however myself living in a condo in a fringe area I can't think of any better antenna then a Ministate by Antennacraft.. being uni-directional allows me to zone in on each frequency. I even sent away for the IR kit.. which gives me freedom from the cable it came with. b.t.w I reside in Waterloo Ontario, Canada which is 110 miles from Buffalo and approximately 85 miles from Niagara Falls..

There is no information on the list of HDTV channels for TVO. Why is this missing from the list? All other stations seem to be present.

Because TVO isn't HD and probably won't be for awhile. They have older equipment and I don't think they have even started to upgrade.

RE: TVO. Think cashflow issues here. If they didn't have TVO kids their viewership would be halved. Basically, there are so many channels available that TVO's old-time-movies no longer have any niche. If you have Galaxy10R on satellite (free) your fix for old shows and movies will be well filled. Harris era budget cuts and ridiculous salaries didn't help either. Steve P is good, but I don't think he's getting the calibre of personalities to make this work.

It's a shame... I have fond memories of growing up to shows like Fables of the Green Forest, Read All About It, The Polkadot Door, Today's Special and so forth.

I just found some TVO kids show sites covering the 70s and 80s... man, I watched almost all of those!
