Hi,
I have a Panasonic HDTV widescreen tv.I was wondering if it is possible to connect devices like a receiver or ultimate tv to these jacks.also my picture isn't very clear. It has several vertical lines in each of my video screens(video 1,2,3).Does anybody else have these problems.Would conncting the receiver or ultimate tv to the component jacks clear this up.

What kind of receiver? I don't recall seeing component outputs on the UTV.

I think spikey was saying that most Ultimate TV's which aren't HD wont have component outs but a DVD or a High Def Sat box would and you can hook them to the 'component' jacks, not to be confused with the yellow composite jack. Also where are the vertical lines and what do they look like? I don't have any on my tv on any of the sources

If you're getting vertical lines on the tv, you might want to check to be sure that you're not in progressive mode on your hdtv. If you have an HDTV (as you said) then it most likely operates in several modes -- 480i (interlaced, regular tv), 480p (progressive -- available from some digital broadcasts and from a progressive scan dvd player), and then hi def modes like 1080i or similar.

If you're getting vertical lines, your tv may be set to progressive while the signal you're receiving is interlaced, causing vertical lines and flutter in the picture. Play with the menus on your tv -- most likely the 'setup' or 'advanced' menu, and see if you can get to a point where you can select the video output. I had a similar problem with my Mitsubishi HDTV and this was the adjustment that solved it.

Hope this info helps...

Component isn't the same thing as composite, if you don't have component outputs jacks on your source, you can't connect them to the component inputs on your TV, unless your TV can switch the component inputs to act as composite inputs. Out of curiosity though...why do you have an HDTV, but don't use the component video connections for component connections to your sources? Do you have any HD sources? If so, how are they connected?
