hi everyone,
check out madrigal's website. follow the iriq's links and you'll find they posted new software. for me, the biggest thing they did was allow me to learn any sony 9000esd remote button i wanted (soundfields, "custom" (input) buttons). tc1000 users will probably have to goto another site, though, as madrigal said the iriq software won't work on the tc1000 and that there is software specific to the tc1000 elsewhere.

www.madrigal.com is not working for me either. It keeps locking up my AOL...is this software udgrade worthwhile or only to a few specific equipment owners? Anyone else having problems with the website?

Whoa! I just went there to get the url and post it. They took away the link! I have no idea why! I swear I'm telling the truth! It was the 3rd link at the bottom of the IRIQ page ([Link: madrigal.com]) where the link for "IRIQ High Resolution Photo" is.

I'm a little bit nervous why they took it away, since I just upgraded my remote.

Well, I have the file, and if anybody needs it, I can send it to them. The file is at home, and I'm at work, so I wouldn't be able to get it to you until either tonight or tomorrow.

Again, the big thing this file did for me was allow me to learn my Sony 9000es soundfields. It also sped up the bar as you turn the wheel on the main menu, ONLY.

Again, I'll send it to anyone who needs it, but since they took it off their site, I would be hesitant on grabbing it as there could be something wrong. However, I have noticed nothing bad, except that when teaching more commands after the upgrade, i ran out of memory, but that could be just because i had too many devices in there.

I just got a response from Madrigal. They told me the upgrade was mistakenly put on the page. The software was supposedly only for download internally for final testing. They said it would return when they finished testing, but didn't say how long that would be.

Paul,

Thanks for the file. I noticed a definite improvement in response speed of the roller wheel. On DSS, it now responds too quickly. It is tough to use the roller wheel for channel up and channel down. Once they fix this quirk, I'll be even more completely satisfied with this remote.

Bill,
i noticed a wheel speed increase but ONLY in the main menu where the highlight bar moves up & down. I did NOT notice a speed increase at the rate at which the iriq sends out IR commands, such as to change channels or frame forward/backward. My mitsubishi VCR can change channels at the jog at the rate of about 10 channels per second as I spin that jog really fast. my iriq sends out those commands like only 1 time per second. is yours faster than mine?
thanks,
paul

Paul,

Response time is VERY quick through the wheel. So fast for changing channels on RCA DSS that I have difficulty getting it to do 1 channel up or down at a time. 1 click of the wheel may change 2 or 3 channels. I just changed my batteries after 4 months so I wonder if the increased battery strength has anything to do with it.

Bill,
That's weird that ONE roll of the wheel would change multiple channels. Are you sure that the remote didn't learn multiple channel change codes when you taught it? I would say relearn it with a quick press of the channel button.

Paul,

I had also put new batteries in the same day. Once the batteries spent a couple of days in the remote the problem did not seem as bad. I have also noticed that the problem seemed to be mostly on the 900 channels on DSS. Weird!!
