Has anyone had success in programming the various soundfields from the Sony 50-ES. They just don't seem to want to work. Also some simple commands from my Toshiba 3108. Like stop or eject.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated...

Scott,

I also had some trouble with learning certain remote commands. It seems like the receiver is very sensitive and depnding on the angle of dispersion on the remote that you are trying to learn it can add up to frustration.

I tried several things, changing the distance from the receiver (varied from .5 inches to 4 inches), changing the angle of the sending remote (up or down haven't tried side to side), and varying the length of time I held the button. sometimes I pressed the button repeatedly.

Best results came from doing the learning in a fairly dark room and finding the right combination of angle and distance to learn from each remote. Then I used that combo from then on.

guys,
i have an iriq and sony 9000es. madrigal posted new software for my iriq and said that the tc1000 software should be available elsewhere because the iriq software won't work on the tc1000. i can now learn any soundfield i want (or at least the first 4 worked). also, i programmed the "custom" button - the one that lets you select which input you're using (ac3rf, coax, optical, analogue). i am now MUCH more happier with the iriq, now that it is usuable with my 9000. Now, if i can only get them to speed up how fast the wheel sends out information so that i can simulate my jogs on my vcr, ld, and dvd player...

I Don't have a TC (though I'm thinking of getting one), but I do have a 50es & AV2000. The following technique works with the 50es and the AV2000 and allows you to assign a specific soundfield to a button (not scroll through soundfields). The soundfield commands emit multiple singles, you only need the first. After selecting the appropriate soundfield on the sony remote, place your hand between the sony & TC to block the IR. You may need to experiment with timing.
