I also had some trouble with learning certain remote commands. It seems like the receiver is very sensitive and depnding on the angle of dispersion on the remote that you are trying to learn it can add up to frustration.

I tried several things, changing the distance from the receiver (varied from .5 inches to 4 inches), changing the angle of the sending remote (up or down haven't tried side to side), and varying the length of time I held the button. sometimes I pressed the button repeatedly.

Best results came from doing the learning in a fairly dark room and finding the right combination of angle and distance to learn from each remote. Then I used that combo from then on.
