Can anyone help with this...I've lost my remote control in relocating and so far every universal I've tried I've had to return...

Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I'm running out of remotes to return! IGGY

Did you try any One For All or Radio Shack remotes?

Those were the first ones I've tried & returned...for some reason the remotes don't register the codes!!!
And on the All In Ones and radio shack universals...
15-2114,15-2116,15-2105 non of them work.
The biggest problem is that NEC no longer supports their TV's!!!
Still searching for a solution

Maybe what you need is an OLD RS or OFA remote.

I just downloaded a couple of ccf files for NEC TVs, and one of them used device code 4 the other used device code 64 (both NEC1 protocol)

In OFA and RS remotes, device code 4 equates to TV codes: 0019, 0030, 0056, 0178

Device code 64 is TV code 0156, which is normally the Toshiba and Apex TV code.

The only remote that I'm familiar with in the list of RS remotes you mentioned is the 15-2116, and all of those codes are included in that remote.

Hey Rob,
Thanks for your insight and information. I'm now to the point where I'm buying a Universal remote a day to see if it works. Last night I took home a Radio Shack 15-2102 with codes: 0030,0019,0056 & 0178...You guessed it, it didn't work.
Can you answer this for me...at the bottom of the set there is a switch that has 3 settings
AIR STD HRC
\-/
CATV
Can you tell me if this has anything to do with it and what setting it should be on...getting back to my remote problem my next move is to seek out different one 4 all's, any suggestions on models??
thanks again Rob for your time IGGY

That switch is for setting the type of cable system being used, which doesn't have anything to do your remote. On all these remotes your trying, your not just trying NEC codes, you're trying all tv codes via a code search? On an older producer 8 remote, there's another NEC code listed, 0497.

Yeah Iggy, I naturally assumed that after trying the listed codes, you went ahead and used the search function, but it never hurts to point out the obvious, so if you haven't done a remote search already, give it a whirl. Instructions are in the manual.

Just to let you know that I have used search when all else fails and unless I'm doing something wrong ( in this case it was TV-PROGRAM-911-POWER-TV till the light blinks 3X....and nothing!!! It logged in the VCR,DVD & CABLE just fine...but nothing on that NEC CT2610A...After pressing the TV button and the POWER button a bunch of times it was suppose to shut the TV off....it didn't!!!!(but the light flicked on & off three times so I knew it registered) Anyway if you guys haven't given up on me yet maybe you could suggest another remote!!!

It was probably a typo, but the command is 991, not 911.

Here's the full instructions...

  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

Hey Iggy,
Do you happen to still have the owner's manual for the TV? If so, does it list what the remote's model number is? If so, you could see if they have a repalcement for it at http://www.replacementremotes.com

Hey Rob,
After looking for days I finally found the NEC manual...only trouble is it has no model # all it says:
Digitally encoded infrared light
Direct access 10 key channel selection power ON/OFF,
volume control UP/DOWN, mute, channel UP/DOWN, OFF-timer,ANT/AUX,
TV/VIDEO and Recall
This is all on the Specification sheet

Hey Iggy,
This is a long shot, but try VCR/0038. (Yes, I know it's a VCR code, but there's a chance it might work your TV).

If he lets you borrow the remote and you test it and it works, let me borrow it next and I'll capture the codes from it. Then I can program a universal to work your TV for you.
