If you're willing to pick up the tab for this, and if your friend's willing to help out a little, here's one thing we could do. I could send him a learning remote. He could learn the TV functions from his NEC remote to this remote and return it to me. I could then create an upgrade based on these learned signals, load it into a remote for you and send it to you.

Here's what it would probably cost...
1) Postage from me to him = $2
2) Return postage to me = $2
3) Postage for sending upgraded remote to you = $2
4) Your new remote = $20

total = $26

Of course, there is always the possibility that the IR receiver in your monitor is broken. If this is the case, no remote control will work, you would have to replace the IR receiver to get any joy.

Hey Rob,thanks for the offer...just let it be known on this site your king.
Anyway believe it or not "Replacement Remote Controls"
the site you originally told me to go to has 3,thats right 3 of them in stock for $28 each.
Even if your right and the infra-red doesnt work on the TV its worth a shot.
My only question is are these guys reliable?
And if so I'll keep you informed how it all ends up.
Much Thanks
IGGY

I've never ordered from them myself, so I can't say either way, but I've also never heard a report of people having problems with them, so my guess is they're OK.

Let us know how you make out.
