Hi Everyone,

My TSU-3000 screen is not responding to touch. I tried the fix where you push a needle through the ribbon cable at the top of the touch screen and that worked for a couple of months. After that the screen started to act up again. I redid the needle fix and it worked again for a few days until it stopped responding to touch all together. I am now going to try something I haven’t seen done by anyone yet. I plan to fix the remote by replacing the conductive epoxy and ribbon cable. I plan to use 30awg wire to individually make the connections between the board underneath the screen and the place where the ribbon used to attach on the top. I am going to replace the epoxy with a new epoxy from MG Chemicals. [Link: mgchemicals.com]
I should be getting the epoxy in about 10 days and I plan to update this thread as soon as I have the results of my experiment. I DO NOT know if this is going to work but at this point the remote is worthless so I’m not really losing anything if it doesn’t. I am curious if anyone else has tried this yet. If so how did your results turn out?

Why a new thread for this? I don't think it will work and is cheaper to put a new touchscreen.

Pdaparts.com , e-bay, look for the ipaq 1940s digitizer. READ and SEARCH this forum about this before do it yourself. It's not an OEM touchscreen. But it works.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

I got the epoxy last yesterday and used it this afternoon. The epoxy worked. The soldering required is not for the faint of heart though. I had to be VERY precise to get the 4 hookup wires attached to the back of the screen where the ribbon cable used to be. The epoxy part was pretty straight forward.

ossocao,

I have seen those posts and did not really want to replace the whole screen when the only real problem is just an electrical connection.

Did you put wire in the place of the ribon? Did you not used the Ribon? How did you get the ribon out? You just pulled it off?

The problem is that the epoxy cost the same of the touchscreen.

ossocao,

Yes. i used 30awg wires to replace the ribbon. once i had the ribbon desoldered from the back of the screen i simply pulled it off of the top. The touchscreen you say you used looks to be $60, not $30 from that site. Plus you said in other posts that it is smaller than the standard screen.

Make the touchscreen U$20.00 here:

Yes the downside is that you will get a 1mm bar on the top and botton of the screen. But the replacement touchscreen is more sensible to touch than the OEM. And you will be shure that will work.

HP1940 digitizer works great. Thanks for helping me save three non-responsive TSU3000s. Couldn't solder myself so I showed repair shop what to do. Working great one month now. I asked if he would accept other TSU3000s by mail to to the same and he said yes. ACME Video & Audio 1810 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11210 718-338-1000. $30 a piece not incl. shipping.
