hi there,
just got myself a marantz rc9500. been trying to connect it to my pc, and i'm having problems. tried looking at all the threads and i couldn't find anything abt it.
I keep getting a battery too low warning for a firmware update as well as a pcf download.
Tried it on my windows 98 and winxp mce2005 edition. both didn't work. the usb is working i think. Tried resetting the unit, unclipped the battery and clipping it back, restarted the pc... everything... the battery is fully charged though so i'm really not sure whats wrong... maybe its the wrong battery? i bought the unit second hand... the unit works flawlessly on its own though, just that i wanted to update it with adam holts pcf.

Any clues guys?

Thanks

Marc

PS: i fully charged it and kept it on the dock too...

Hmm, this is usually a problem on older computers that don't support USB v1.1, which could very well be your Win98 system, so it's very odd that this is occuring on your MCE box...

Hi.

I had the same problem with windows XP. Despite a full battery, I got a message saying the battery was too low to download/upload configurations.

In my case, I started going through windows updates on Microsoft.com and service pack 1 solved the problem. I guess there will be other updates that may help as well.
Any hint of malice is either a poor choice of words on my part or a misinterpretation on yours.

Sorry to be so blunt... You definitely want to stay current with Service Packs.

Not updating is sort of like running your car engine without any oil or never having your vehicle serviced. May run fine for a while but after a time, it's guaranteed to blow.

However MCE2005 already comes with SP2. Yeah, there are a bunch of other updates since then (I think 53 last time I checked) but I don't think any of them make any changes to USB behavior.

There are a bunch of Windows updates that indirectly affect USB behavior. If there are 53 updates that you don't have then I would be inclined to install them. If you are using the "automatic update" feature than all the important updates are installed. If not, then you should consider turning it on and avoid headaches later.

Don't worry - I'll be testing w/all versions once I get it. :)
