What is the "default duration" listed in Pronto Edit?

Not sure of specifics, but I use it for things like volume ramping. Sometimes devices need a longer button press and this is a way to solve those issues. If you are not having any issues with functions leave it be, if you are then play around with it.

around with it. Yes, I undersand. I was just curious as to what is the "default" duration in the editor. It always gives you the choice of default or you can change it. I just dont know what "default" value is.

The "default" duration is used to describe the XML markup for the duration flagged in ConfigEdit.xml as "lessthan"WHILEPRESSED/"greaterthan". However, if the button is used in a Macro, WHILEPRESSED really has no meaning so as a result, some IR codes were not being transmitted long enough so they had to add the minimum duration as a replacement for "lessthan"WHILEPRESSED/"greaterthan".

Jochen Are you sure? It has been said in the past that it was 5 repeats of the repeating part of the signal.

Jochen This comes up because if a code duration is in question, and you want to set it MORE than the "default", how do you know what number to start at?!!

The only real way is to experiment. Start with a high figure then reduce it until it stops working theh go back to the lowest that always works.

Lyndel,
please look at your post and describe to us what you meant to have appear where only two periods appear...but it sounds like something else was supposed to be there.

Unfortunately, I have not figured out how to put XML markup into this forum without the edit post and preview and final post simply chewing things up. So, I have edited to use "lessthan" and "greaterthan" to refer to the same symbols that so screw up HTML and xml if they are not escaped properly.
