I'm thinking of picking up a TSU3000. Was just wondering what those who have it think of it, etc.
I currently have a Harmony SST-659 and was just wondering what everyone thought of the Pronto 3000.

Had one - sent it back. Screen very poor! Now have a 7000 screen GREAT. Love It!

I'm a Pronto user from waaaay back...

The 3000 screen is better than the original 1000, but I agree -- it is nowhere near as good as a 65000 color TFT. However the remote is also not nearly as expensive as the 7000 too.

With the latest software and firmware, the 3000 is an excellent choice for someone who has a complex system or who wants to automate more tasks than the Harmony. The Harmony does have some advantages in that it is "stateful" and so remembers the off/on and input states of all your components. Why Philips has not yet put this obvious technology into the Pronto line (I suggested it too them back in '98, it is obvious to anyone who has even a tiny bit of programming knowledge) I don't know. However, with carefully chosen components this is really not a problem.

Think about the 7000 or find a used 6000. Not a fan of the 3000s. I hear they are much better since the updates... but why mess with it. The 6000 and the 7000 are proven units.

The color Prontos definitely have cooler graphics, and can be easier to read as a result. However, bear in mind that you pay a significant premium for this. There is no functional difference between the TSU3000 and TSU7000.

I have had my 3000 since it first came out and had to ride out the storm with all of the firmware/software upgrades. Now I am very happy with it. The color screen on the 7000 does look better - but if the cost is too much then go for the 3000. They are basically the same otherwise and it is a big price jump.

Battery life only 10 days (if you are lucky) with the 3000. Charger is not an option. I'm still using my Pronto 1000 (one for kitchen (behind family room) and one in family room. Batter life on Pronto 1000 6 months or more.

3000 screen better than 1000. I had to pay to have mine programmed as I have a Mac and when I deleted some buttons they never came back as in the older uit.

Basically a nice way to control things

Don't forget the 7000 comes with the charger.

Have the 3000NG and LOVE it. If you are willing to spend the money, skip the 7000 and go right to the IPronto or a Crestron. That is the way to go if you are really interested in automation. I'm planning on making the switch to something along those lines as a next step. The 3000 has all the functionality and customization that you could really ever want, short of a web browser and full home automation. It is a great product that takes some configuring but once it's programmed, you'll wonder what you ever did without it!!!

To all those who posted owning a Pronto 3000-- How is the battery life? What is the life you get with typical usage. For example, what kind of life would you get if you used your components 3-4 hours each day?

On the net I keep coming across battery life issues. Like the Pronto 3000 needs new batteries every 2 days or less???

I've got the charger, and I haven't had any problems. I'm not sure why the previous poster says it isn't an option -- maybe he doesn't have a good place to put it or there's some other limitation in his environment. The charger works well.

Charger w/battery pack handles all power issues for me on 3000

I keep hearing the screen is better on the 3000 over the 1000. What is better? Just the graphics? Is it any easier to read/see?
