i would be very interested in some form of mergable database that users could enter new ir codes into and have them centrally added to a ccf or database that could then be entered into pronto edit.

as an example, i purchace a new device, discover all of the codes i know about - export that to a text file and send that in. that information gets added to a database and when someone else finds out more info their text file is appended to my entries. the databases could be searched by manufacturer or device. it would be up to the end user to verify the hex.

once the database is built, you download it - run it in pronto edit and assign the hex to your own buttons.

2 1/2 cents....

I too would like to be able to view most (if not all) of the graphics in a CCF prior to downloading. I've spent a lot of time downloading, unzipping and editting to see the various panels. Don't get me wrong, all of the ones I've seen are excellent -- it's just that I may not need all of the features provided. I primarily am looking to see the neat graphics & ideas others have come up with to determine if I can use them

have my own personal forum that is built from the individual threads in the different forums that i am following.

log on to my forum and see the current 10 threads that i am interesed in rather that searching for a reply or a response.

limit your "personal" forum to 20 or so threads so that it doesen't take up too much server time!

Daniel,

How about a "requests" area?

[For instance, I would like a "Nick Jr" logo bmp and a big power logo like your AMP,DVD,CD logo's...]

It might also encourage some of us to upload our wacky IR codes if we think someone else will actually want them!

Also, it would be nice to turn off the graphical preview (or use smaller thumbnails) to speed up scanning through the complete system files.

Finally, your website is one of the slickest sites I've come across, thanks for all your hard work.

I would like to see a downloadable pdf book or manual - Pronto & ProntoEdit for Dummies. Come to think of it, I would pay a reasonable fee for this book.

Regarding individual device CCF's:

I too agree that individual device configs are needed. But what everyone seems to be missing is that we don't need to waste space with the graphics that CCF's require!1

We need a space to upload/download device IRDB's that can be created/merged using IRDatabse utility.

Until the network portion of IRDatabase (and even after, for site redundancy) is fully functional, RC would be the best place to house any individual device IR files. These files should be saved with the filename formay = devicetype_manufacturer_device_creatordate.zip (or something similar). That way, multiple versions of the same device will be possible, as learned codes vary.

I proposed this in another topic, BTW, but it seems appropriate here as well.

WOW!!!

And I thought Bob Griffiths was good a bringing up the past!

CLW - I wish I knew something about CHADs so I could help you. But just a word of advice. Start a new thread with a Topic that has something to do with what you're asking. I do however, commend you for searching around on your own, first.

Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out.

And remember when you ask questions to be specific in your Heading and very specific in your question, including precisely what your problem/question is and what model Remote you have and what OS you are using on your PC.

Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker.
