So i've bought my 970 (6000), read various posts, reviews and loaded up the prontoedit software and tried to get my head around it. Unfortuately its just not happening. Did you guys go through this? (or is it me?). Looking at the great designs there are some very experienced people here. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started? (written in plain speaking english). Thanks guys, best regards Mark in the UK.

Mark,

http://www.prontowizard.com

Buy the guide. It will save you many hours of searching the Pronto NG forum. However, the guide only serves to flatten the learning curve a bit.

And if you have any questions, you should be asking them in the Pronto NG forum.

You can't give up yet . . . you haven't suffered long enough. (I've also sent another e-mail correcting my misunderstanding).

Mark,
think about, why you bought the Pronto in the first place. Maybe because the eight remotes on your couch table are such a nuisance? So, one way could be to write down, how many remote changes and button presses are necessary to fire up e.g. your DVD player? (Amp on, TV on, switch to Input XY, DVD on, dim lights etc.)
Try to create a macro for that.
After you managed to do this, remember which functions you use quite often, and which functions you seldom need. Put all those needed onto one page. You actually do not have to stick to one device. You could have the amplifier volume on the same page, the DVD controls are on. Also you could put an "Aspect" button for the TV on the same page.
What I'm trying to say is: Build the pages of your Pronto to fit your needs. If you want all functions of one device placed on a single page, that's OK, if it's OK for you - you determine how the CCF looks and which functions are available. Maybe the first tries will look quite chaotic, but for the moment, looks is not important. You can change the appearance any time you're satisfied with the usability.
As for graphics, I would recommend to take a closer look at Daniel Tonks' and Dale Crawford's (Darnitol) CCFs. Both feature a very pleasant and clear style.
Hope some of this helps

Mark, please read the Pronto FAQ from start to finish. It will clear up many, many things. Then, download and read the ProntoEdit users guide from this site from start to finish.

Don't try to start big, start small, play with some test configurations, figure out how your equipment works. Don't concentrate on graphics up front but rather on functionality. Once you get the basics down and have a working config, then you can "pretty" it up.
