Mark, please read the Pronto FAQ from start to finish. It will clear up many, many things. Then, download and read the ProntoEdit users guide from this site from start to finish.

Don't try to start big, start small, play with some test configurations, figure out how your equipment works. Don't concentrate on graphics up front but rather on functionality. Once you get the basics down and have a working config, then you can "pretty" it up.
