I downloaded a CCF to help me get started. Selected the file because it had buttons for many of the DirecTV channels that I use. I find that some of the buttons work as expected. Others do not.

For example, if I press on CNN, 202 displays on the screen, and CNN is selected.

If I press MSNBC, 6 displays on the screen and I get channel 6. The code for MSNBC is 356.

If I press FOX News, 6, 0 or 60 displays on the screen. I do not get FOX News. The code for FOX News is 360.

Many of the buttons work fine. For those that do not, the complete code is either not transmitted by the remote or not received by the Sat Receiver.

Can anyone help.

Do the codes work by them selfs on the key pad?

If so, then you would have to go into the channel icons, via ProntEdit, or whatever. And look at the delays, if any. If there are non, then add them in. If there are delays, then increase the time.

Play with times as to get the best/fastest time.

You need to reprogram the channel numbers for each channel to match whatever is actually used in your area.

Correct me if Im wrong Peter. But this ccf is for a DSS, where it doesn't matter where one lives it's the same channel line up.

I honestly thought the same thing, but then I reread the message and saw it was a dss.

But I am behind the times of dss though.

I'm not familar enough with DirecTV to know if the channel numbers are the same across the country or not. Over here, different providers can supply the same service, but channels numbers can be different.

Except for local channels, the channel numbers are the same everywhere. Sounds more like a delay problem, maybe BigMac's receiver is not exactly the same model as the one the ccf was designed for.
Look in the code sequence for one of the stations, for example MSNBC (356). It should look like:
alias to the code for 3
delay
alias to the code for 5
delay
alias to the code for 6

Try increasing the duration of the delays and see what happens. You could start with something really long (0.5 seconds), then if that works try reducing it and see if you can find the optimum delay (the shortest that works every time). My Hughes sat receiver works OK at 0.2 seconds.

Not sure delays are is complete problem- from his description he is always missing the first digit and sometimes the second etc. So delay won't help the missing first digit. Either code or alias for at least the 3 must have a problem.

Thanks to all,

Problem solved. Delay was definitely part of the solution. Also, the comments about the buttons working on the Pronto resulting in the discovery that some of them were not.

Thanks again,

Mac

For dwg. In general you are correct that not having the correct delays will not affect the first digit. However on some equipment if you send two codes too close together it will result in the first code not being actioned correctly either, one of my DVD systems was like that...
