I downloaded version 1.4.3 for the tsu500 and installed it. then I updated my brand new neo and it got half way through and a window popped up that says unable to repair or install update. I have tried several times to do it again, also have redownloaded the update and used s different computer. Now the neo will not function at all, no lights no screen no response. I have tried to reset it- nothing. I have taken the batteries out for more than five hours to let it clear out but nothing. Is there anything I can do before sending this back to philips? Help from the guru's would be greatly appreciated!

I am not a guru, but I would just exchange it at the store first. My erase your update and download it again in case it is corrupted on you computer. I used to get a "invalid or currupt flash" message or something like that. It would work sometimes but I eventually just returned it. Are you sure your not getting a message something like this?

I take it you have tryed the Reset button behind the battery case? Try pushing that in with a paperclip at the same time you are trying the firmware upgrade.

Sometimes it takes 3 trys I remember reading.

If you do a search, I remember others having this problem.

ok allamand, i have went to best buy and exchanged the remote. i then uninstalled the firmware then reinstalled it and then went with the update and now the second remote has locked up and will not respond. no light, no screen, no beeps. no response what so ever. I called philips and they say to send it back for a factory reconditioned unit. who is to say that the same prob;lem will not arise again? I am trying to update it now and it is still saying and I quote "We were unable to repair or update the firmware!" What is going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can program my pronto tsu 1000 on this computer but the neo locks up. HELP

Yep, sounds like you had some conflicts going on with the com port. Seems the Neo is very touchy as to other software that uses the com's. More then likely that was what was happening with the other remote.

Glad you got it to work, as without the download and upload, and the "Backlight" on with any button, the NEo would really suck!

Hey thanks Steve, Seems like I may need some help here and there. It is alot more touchy than the 1000, You are right I got the backlight to work with any button- I love it. now I got the seggar error, I am gonna do a search for it here, I know I have seen it. Tried to use neo edit on thee puter and internet explorer was to old a version, I downloaded a newer version and it locked up the puter with an explorer error- still working on that. I got the seggar with the laptop and am also busy with that.... jeez it is like a puzzle. I like puzzles... wish me luck
