Is there is any really compelling reason to update the NEO to 1.3 with Firmware Updater ?

I still can't get my NEO to recognize any serial ports with NeoEdit but can with Firmware Updater.

Philips has not been helpful and yes, I have read the thread about searching for a computer (any computer) to finally initiate the handshake. (My computer is XP)

Tx,
Bill

What are your Com port settings in XP, which Com port our you trying? I'd find it weird that the Firmware Updater can find the NEo but not NeoEdit!!

This morning I got the ANSWER!! thanks to Phil: I quote from his email:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I manually changed mine in the registry.
Export a backup copy before you begin!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Philips Electronics N.V.\NEOedit\1, 3, 4, 0\Settings] Connection =
I went through them one at a time and finally 3 seemed to talk to COM2:.
It works fine for upload and download now.
This absolutely works. I set my Connection = 3 in the registry and now it works just fine!!! Now, Philips needs to fix their NeoEdit software please.
Seems as though 3 would mean Com 3 and that the NeoEdit software only lets you pick Com1 or Com2,
yet Com3 DOES use the same addresses basicly as Com1
