It seems that the world experts on the NEO post here, so hopefully I can pick your brains.

For some background that may save time...I have all latest the software and firmware updates. I have no problem with setting up the pages or anything to do with the appearance of the screens. In fact, I made my NCF look exactly how I want it.

TV: Hitachi 50GX49B RPTV
VCR: Samsung VR8060
TIVO: Philips DSR6000
SURROUND: Kenwood VR-309
DVD: Fisher (?)
CD: Luxman D-11

Now the problem, while the unit and NCF looks real nice, I can't get it to work anything. Well that is an exagerration, but not too far off.

I entered the BRAND codes, which did very little for me. I tried learning each button and with some difficulty got the unit to read OK for each....but then it did not work properly (hard and soft buttons)

I don't really know any other way. What about NEO hacker? I have it on my computer...and from TIVO I got a bunch of long string codes for each button. But I am new to this stuff and don't even know what to do with the codes!

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Larry

Have no clue how to solve your problem. You said you are having no problems with the programming so I won't comment on anything about that. I guess all you asking is why your components don't respond to the NEO's commands. If you tried the brand codes, and tried your own learned codes, then I guess it just sounds like a mystery to me. I've used mine from distances of 100 feet, and it works through smoked glass to operate my VCR and DVD.

OK...I've found that I can get the devices to operate using "learned" IR codes. One problem...what about buttons that only blink quickly and don't sustain the "send" long enough for the NEO to learn. Specifically I have a VR-309 Kenwood receiver and the audio and video input selects work this way. Any ideas?

Thanks

Push the button on the neo you want to learn to. Then quickly press and release the button on the OEM remote. Though not always sucessful, I've found this is the quickest and most sucessful way to learn a code.

I got my codes from the TiVo web site:
www.tivo.com
You have to look around under all the headings..I can't remember which one. I've posted my file although it is still "under construction". The TiVo is fully functioning...it is a Philips DVR6000. I know there are other files out there with other brands...in fact that's where I got the cool icons for TiVo.

BYW...I did not use the codes I found but rather learned them from the remote...all but the enter/jump ...I used the one built in to the Neo for a philips DSS (I think...somehow it works...this thing is a mystery sometimes!)

I never really could get the VR-309 to work properly. My best success was to use the Tuner Kenwood 1597 code and then choose the IR code from the few available.

Between learning and using this code I was able to use most everything but the button that changes from DVD to VCR 1 to VCR2.

I became so frustrated that the NEO is back at BESTBUY! (they're great about returns...no box, no receipt, purchased 3 months ago...NO PROBLEM!)

I have since tried some chaeper remotes namely the RCA RCU810 and the SONY 900 Commander. Both worked as well as the NEO (in fact better in that they controlled the Kenwood) BUT the RCA didn't have enough memory and I didn't like the layout of either. Although I did like the buttons over the touch pad which I had trouble working the TiVo (stopping where I wanted while using FF & rew)

SO I have ordered an MX-500 from www.RRDeals.com. Will I ever be HAPPY???? ;-)
