I know these new progessive scan DVD players are out now. Is the picture that much better? I have the Pioneer Elite PRO-700HD TV, my set already upconverts signals to 480p I think? It has a line doubler too? Just wondering if anyone has some opinions on this. Is it worth getting rid of my current player (Pioneer DVL-919) and buying a progessive scan DVD player. Thanks...

Dont get rid of your current player until the price comes down. It definitely is far supperior, but only if you have progressive inputs on your set. Instead of upconverting you actually bypass all the processors that are in your tv for the most realistic film like expierence to date for the home theatre junkie.

Thanks, I was told that it is a flicker free more film like image. Progessive scan DVD players lock my set in the full mode. This means that I can only watch anamorphic DVD's with the progessive scan outputs. I will have to run the regular component out for non-anamorphic DVD's. This sux, an $8,000 tv that has a current technology problem already. I can get the Toshiba SD-5109 for $495. That is a great price considering I can probally get atleast $600 for my Pioneer DVD-919 LD/DVD player. Thanks for your feedback!
