Hi There, I recently bought a pioneer dvd recorder and I was wondering if anyone knows why you cannot watch DVD-RW disks recorded on the machine on any other player even if you finalize the disk? like you can by using just a dvd-r disk

Because ReWrite are for computers not to contain streaming video which hidef or analog TV require, but to hold spreadsheets and other comuter data.:)

Geez...
Not even close, I'm afraid. It's because the laser is different for every type of rewritable discs and you haven't yet found a player that can read yours properly. Or possibly it's your recorder's fault, or the discs you buy.
Playing burned DVDs is a huge issue. Some players can't read certain brands of discs, neither can some recorders record on certain brands. Some players can't read discs from certain recorders. It is a big mess, and tricky to get right.
You can try videohelp.com for some lists of players and recorders and notes from people about what brand discs have worked for them.
