funny that the guy defends himself and all the people on opposite end of the political spectrum from him come out of the woodwork calling for his removal.

It is getting just as old that guys take a shot at someone, then whine that that someone takes a shot back. Why is there not a call to ban the person who took the first shot in this thread. Sounds silly does it not?

This is the state of discourse in the country, and it's the biggest single threat our nation faces. I generally fall on the same side of most topics that I've seen discussed here as David. I've also called for him to be at least temporarily banned, because he consistently takes shots at people that he disagrees with, or posts trollish comments that just seek to belittle or insult the intelligence of anyone who holds an opinion that he disagrees with (though he didn't "start it" in this thread). Just like I do with others that do the same crap.

If you feel strongly enough about a topic that you want to insult someone over it because they disagree with you, then maybe take the time to form a valid take. If that's not worth your time, then maybe just be quiet.

I used to belong to an amazing woodworking website with a great crowd that i enjoyed for years. The same thing happened there that is happening here, a few bad apples posting bait posts or bait comments to get everyone riled up.

Everyone started leaving.

At least Mr. Stanley was entertaining, told some great stories, several of which I was able to verify, the water pipe one was legit. I even broke bread with him a couple times when I moved to Freeattle.

I belong to another site that has a strict NO POLITICS policy and while I don't like it, it has its merits and has kept things peaceful for many years.

There is a problem here and to me the solution is ignore and do not respond or react to the obvious bait posts / comments. May take awhile but civility will prevail.

You / we / us certainly will not change any minds here.

When someone is totally ignored long enough one of two things happens, one they go away on their own or two they sign their own death certificate and get the permanent boot.

Years ago, people or groups of people would complain about certain shows on TV. Someone spoke up and just told them to shut up and change the channel, you don't have to watch it if you don't like it.
The simple solution here is to ignore and not respond (by anyone) to posts that are not on topic, offensive, hateful etc.
The main reason someone that is a dick, remains a dick, is because he gets what he is looking for. A response to his actions.
