Go Daddy but check in with Stamp (Mac). I think he had another web hosting service.

Domain registration and hosting are (can be) 2 completely different things and involve separate fees. For instance our domain is registered with godaddy and hosted by hostmonster. You could, I assume register AND host with ANHosting...check their offerings I'm sure it's there.

Godaddy,
I've been pretty happy with there tech support. Now that I have an account with them I'm now a collector of domain names:)

BlueHost.

I cannot speak highly enough about these guys.

1.  The Control Panel is Stellar.
2.  They're competitively priced.
3.  They provide excellent customer service for novice webmasters like me.
4.  They know their shit.

You can't go wrong here.  Open 24/7 (most are).

You set up your domain, but that's it.  At this point, you've gotta make the domain a website.  At that point, you'll need the "hosting".

The host will have a CPanel or Control Panel that will give you the ability to manage emails, users, and how the site is managed.

The ControlPanel is important.  Similar to a nice user interface in our business...if it's put together well, it makes it easy for novices to use and possibly get good at.

Keep in mind that you can also change hosts.  It's as simple as pointing your site (once built) to a different server or set of servers.

We use Westhost. Not a giant company like Go Daddy but they give great support at a great price.
If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way?

Anhosting/1and1.com/bluehost/ are all good.

Godaddy is the McDonalds of hosting/registrar companies. They nickle and dime you to death. I have an Anhosting account that costs me $100 per year. I have a dozen+ websites (mine and family members) hosted on the single account with no extra charges. Right now anhosting is running their $3.95 a month special. They let you buy up to 3 years in advance at that price and your domain is free. [Link: manage.aff.biz]
