Hi all,
The IRS just sent me a large check for money they witheld from me when they shouldn't have so now I have a little "fun money" to finally buy the new TV I desperately need. I was looking at the Sony KV-34XBR910 and the Panasonic CT-34WX52 (Both 34" widescreen HDTV ready tubes) and was wondering what you all had for opinions. Of the two, which do you prefer? Do any of you prefer another brand over these? I would love to get a plasma or CRT RPTV, but I just can't afford it. Kinda like how the cobbler's kid never has shoes...I install these damn things all day everyday, and can't get one for myself...LOL

My vote goes to Panasonic, but Toshiba is also a good choice IMHO

Brent, is this a US model? I tried looking it up on the web and Mitsu's site and I can't seem to find that model.

Have you considered one of the new inexpensive digital projectors and a manusan pull down screen?
It shouldn't set you back any more, if as much as, the TV's you're looking at if you're room and SO can handle it.

It wouldn't be much of a problem to install in this house, but the issue would be that during the day my living room is very bright and I know my wife wouldn't want to have to darken the room all the time to watch TV.

The Sony has a great picture.... Havent seen the new Panasonics, but the old Tau's were great. Either one of those sets integrate into a system nicely... As for the Mits, Yeah, its a US model, Brand new.... Mits is a bit behind on their updates.

Its a great set and probobly what I'll be getting in a month or so..... Still up in the air on whether I can fit the 48" or not.

I'd hold out for a 42" plasma...

But, if the dough is burning a hole in your pocket, the Sony is slightly better than the Panasonic
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

I install the 42" Plasmas all the time, but just can't afford one. I refuse to get a a cheap plasma like the Gateway or Daewoo ones. I would much rather get a quality widescreen tube then a bottom line plasma, ya know what I mean?

Has no one noticed that all the the 34" widescreen tubes outperform even the best plasma displays?

Your paying a Premium for flat.....

If you need Flat, or even desire Flat, they are fantastic, but for true performace, a Tube is the best way to go.
