I need someone to help me walk through the process of flashing my firmware........

Alright, I get it! Somebody out there has to be screwing with us...Now I know why Impact has been getting so bitchy towards people lately. Can the questions possible get any more vague? Firmware for what? There are a lot of devices out there that have firmware. People will be more than happy to help you out if you make it easy for them to answer your question. When they have to try to figure out what you are talking about they start writing comments like this instead of helping. e.g. "Hi, I have a Philips Pronto TS1000 and every time I try to reflash the firmware it resets itself before it finishes. Does anybody know why it would do this?"

1) Look over both shoulders for possible witnesses.

2) Make sure you are in the line of sight of your firmware.

3) Slowly unbutton your overcoat and unzip your pants.

4) Flash away!

you are overlooking the obvious possibility that ajones could be a woman, in which case it is traditional to flash other parts first, or other parts only.

McNasty, Impaqt is not the only one who has been getting bitchy towards people lately. People signing up here, then asking questions that we cannot possibly answer because they are too vague, has become my latest pet peeve. Frankly, I thought you guys were getting tired of seeing my responses to worthless questions like this one. I guess not, so I will keep on trying to get folks to ask real questions. My byline on this topic has become,

If your question sounds at all like
"I want to buy a car. How much should I pay?"
then your question is too vague.

Maybe I should make it "too BLEEPING vague." With a capital bleep.

By the way, ajones, I'll just bet you were referring to some one of the twenty or so remote controls that you might have named if you REALLY wanted an answer. In that case, the question does not belong here at all. It belongs in the forum for the particular remote you are asking about. But you have to use details there, too, because each of those fora deal with several different models.

ajones, if you have recovered from the warm welcome you've been given, it is easy to flash the firmware on most remotes and directions are available on the web sites containing the firmware. The previous posters have a valid point about supplying information on the remote and problem in question, even if they're a little rough in dispensing it.
