Hi all,

Is it possible to display dynamic images, I have an application which uses tcp/ip to send me a hex encoded byte array of an image (the sender can send just about any image format ie. .png .jpg .bpm) which I would like to display in a widget.

I want this functionality for to things:-

1)My Roku SoundBridge tcp/ip api can send me the current screen as an image
2)I would also like to display the album cover art work of the current playing album

Although I have done a fair bit of programming in JavaScript, Java and C++, I’m new to prontoscript so I’m not sure if this is possible with the current set of supplied classes and widgets.

As a side bar – is it possible to add your own classes or widgets as some kind of add-on api, if so I would be quite happy to create the above functionality if it’s not currently available

One of the screen shots () from the HighDef PadOne MCE Music activity suggests that it’s possible. Has any body got this Activity and able to confirm this?

The ability to do that has not been released to the general public by Philips. It does exist in certain applications either written by Philips or via information provided to them and only them by Philips. Philips seems to have two classes of developers, those they "support" (Us) and those they SUPPORT!

I am quite annoyed about this. It is not a proper way of doing business (IMHO) and might even violate some US restraint of trade laws, but I am not a lawyer and do not develop commercially.

I have raised a support call with Philips I'll let you know what they say - their SLA is 48 hours - so it wont be for a day or two!!

You can wait, and wait, and wait.

You will get the answer that we are telling you here. I beta tested the 9600 for Philips and this support is not yet available via ProntoScript. I'm hoping for such support in next firmware/editor release but not sure if and when it will be.

Currently, such functionality is only available from built-in devices (those coded inside the firmware).

I fully expect that to be their answer but it can’t hurt to remind them that there are people out there that want it.

Did you ever get a module working?

If the equipment can serve up an image via HTTP, Philips already has a module to create/display dynamic images from the HTTP download.
