2) From the "Add IR Code" window, the same window you are working in while learning a given IR code make sure to set the minimum IR duration for each code to 0.01 seconds. Do not leave the duration set to "Default", otherwise these learned codes will either lack responsiveness requiring multiple presses at times for the PS3 to respond or be too responsive where a short button press sends a given command twice rather than once as should be the case. Thanks Lowpro, I had forgotten about that "trick" but it only provided a marginal improvement (if any). It is still not usable due to the the lack of responsiveness and, on occasion, duplicate commands getting issued. This is really disappointing...

The codes I learned for the Nyko remote are available per the link below. [Link: lowpro.net]Give them a try and let me know how it goes.

Lowpro,
Is your email on profile up to date? If not, give me a call on Sunday to touch base. Both Barry and I have wondered what was up with you.

I have downloaded from this site the Nyko codes that David Sylvester had posted. They work better than the one I had learned but they still don't work all that reliably. Maybe yours will be better...

The codeset posted in the files section you speak of has issues. Simply following the learn procedure I outline here which includes setting the minimum IR duration for each learned code to 0.01 will result in a clean set of codes which perform properly.

There is an new device which allows IR control of the PS3. It is IR2BT. Easily found on the wbe. Allows IR control which is converted to bluetooth to control almost all of the PS3 commands.

Thanks again for the diligent follow-up Lowpro. The procedure you suggest is what I had done originally. I must say, however, that I did not get great results. I have yet to try your set of codes though... (my other problem being that I cannot program my 9600 on my new Vista computer; ProntoEdit does not see the 9600 on that computer...)

My Vista PC can see the TSU9600, it was plug and play. The interesting thing was configuring the RFX9600 through a router. The Vista PC couldn't see the TSU through the router when the RFX was in config mode 3, but it could in config mode 2. According to the book, config mode 2 is only used for PC to RFX direct with a cross cable. So I configured my RFX in config mode 2 using Vista PC>straight cable>router>straight cable>RFX, updated firmware all OK.

configured 2 RFX9600s with toshiba notebook (a215 s5808) running 32 bit vista, no problems. configured TSU9600 with same notebook, programmed 100+ page configuration. got the PS3 to work no problem with the schmartz.com IR+PWR kit. if you need the PS3 codes, i have the clean pronto hex codes for 50 commands. some of the transport functions are finicky(FF and RWD only work for a second, never figured out how to fix that), but other than that they all work reliably. just RC mail me and i'll email them to you in an excel file.

Thanks for the offer. I assume that your Schmartz codes would be different from the Nyko BluWave IR remote though, wouldn't they?

no, these codes are not from schmartz.com. they're pronto hex codes. if you use RTI or URC, there are ways to convert the hex codes for them, but since this is the pronto professional forum, i assume you're using a pronto professional. i haven't used the Nyko BluWave IR remote, i've only used custom touch screen controllers in my PS3 jobs. from googling it, it looks like it's just a remote with the original 25 PS2 IR codes (which work on the PS3) permanently programmed into it. the hex codes i have are clean versions of what you would get by learning the Nyko codes into a pronto, and there are 50 commands, not 25. hope this helps.

Just to say thanks Lowpro, bought the nyko remote of E-Bay, used your codes, My TSU9600 works perfectly with the PS3. Still can't quite believe I'm controlling the PS3 with my Pronto, never though I would get it intergrated in to my system. cheers, Adam.

Dick Smith Electronics in Aus sell a cheapy USB IR remote for the PS3 as well (not sure if it's the same product repackaged). I had the same problem with unreliable reponses after my first attempt at learning the IR codes from the remote. After trying the above, all works fine too.
