I've recently just purchased a DVDO Edge which has an IR port. I found laying around a cable that connected between the 9600 extender and the EDGE. For some reason it was causing a lot of conflict issues could not even use the Edge remote, the other functions on the pronto remote were having issues too. I took the cable out and everything was fine. My guess its the cable is there a certain type of cable? mono or stereo ?
Thanks

Frank

Mono cable where tip is positive and sleeve is ground. However, you could also be having ground loop issues. Hard to say at this point. Even though the RFX9600 has cables, my choice is the emitter because it completely isolates the 2 pieces of equipment.

Where would the emitter go to the edge? I could not seem to find the Ir bit.
Thanks

There is no reason the cable connection would not work, unless there is something strange about the Philips design. Lyndel is correct it is a mono 3.5 mm (1/8") jack, tip being signal and sleeve being ground. Isolation through a xantech amplified connecting block should work but that would be an expensive solution. I do not have a Philips extender (I do have an Edge) or a would try adding a series resister in the line to limit the current draw 1/4 watt at 1k ohms to start and go down to lower ohm values until it works. Also adjust the power on the extender port.

Give DVDO a call and they will tell you where the IR receiver is. It is not shown in the manual I have, and I have no idea where it is as I use the rear port.

There is a PC program on my web site (www.the-gordons.net) that produces all of the edge IR patterns including the ones not on the remote in Pronto HEX format. The Edge is unique in that you can do everything (e.g. set brightness to 25) using IR. Just no feedback.

From AVSFORUM, I thought you used the VP50Pro? I thought you refused to use any components that didn't provide a RS232 interface! ;) SJ

No I did not buy the VP50PRO so unfortunatley I have to go by IR. I would prefer RS232 though!
Thanks

SJHart, If the VP50PRO comment was for me, you are correct I generally do not buy a component if it does not have RS232. However the IR on the Edge can do all of what an IR interface can do with the exception of feedback, and I really wanted the audio only HDMI output ergo . . .

Also the Edge IR interface being wired never misses a command (noise free). I am holding onto the VP50 PRO but am seriously thinking of putting it on eBay as it is still a popular unit among videophiles.

I do like the idea of the seperate Hdmi audio. That to me was a big plus.
Thanks
