Neither remote is easily openable by the consumer.
They are designed the same way, and come apart the same way.


Which part of THESE REMOTES ARE THE SAME except firmware do people not understand?

This will soon all go away as Marantz is no longer in the remote control business. They have sold off ALL their stock of the RC9001's, RX8001's and RX9001's. I gues that price diference didnt make sense to people who knew the 9001was just a pronto with a facelift. We just submitted our last order for the Marantz 9001's...a total of 35 (plus the 8001 extender). We sell them with almost every system and people love them. I'm thinking now when we blow through the last 35 we ordered we will just move to pronto since our program template will continue to work with it.

and the pronto unit is imho better looking anbd more comfortable to hold
I know enough to make things work some of the time.
