Does anybody know if the Serial Extender can set DTR high(pin 4 i think)? Im working on a UPB Lighting Interface Module, and I have a hunch that this is where im stuck. I figured I would ask here before I go out and buy a voltage meter.

There are only 3 pins used in the RFX 9600 at the moment 2,3,5., you may need to connect pin 4 and 6 together at the Lighting end.

Unfortunately, the UPB PIM requires 5V on the DTR line and the RFX9600 does not provide this. However, you can create a workable solution if you wish to make a custom cable between the two devices. You can provide a constant 5V to the DTR line by utilizing the 5V output from the RFX9600 power sense terminal. Probably the easiest way to do this would be to slice into a M/F DB9 cable and make a jumper wire on from the DTR line to the 5V output on the RFX9600. I had to do this with my HomeVision (Home Automation System) controller as well.

Hi Jon,

Do you have some examples of serial strings you have compiled for the RFX9600 to send to a PIM for me. I am trying to control dimmers via the PIM...

Thanks
Mike

Has any one taken up the challenge of a UPB Script yet?

Mark - I just sent you some links for some UPB info I had.

I never did a ProntoScript interface to UPB because I was (previously) controlling all of my UPB through a TCP interface that I wrote to my HomeVision system. I'm now doing all my Pronto control of UPB through my HAI OmniPro II system. Both of those systems use their own protocols for handling the UPB commands, so anything I did there was not applicable.

I don't do a lot of JavaScript, but I'll see if I can wrangle some time to put together a sample UPB app. The key components are to make sure you set the PIM for message mode and not pulse mode and that you are using the proper preamble, checksum and length calculations on what you send.
