Here it is:

"The brand name Tweeter will appear on a product designed and manufactured by Universal Remote Control [URC], announced Tweeter CEO Joe McGuire recently.

With a prototype on his desk, Tweeter vice president, general merchandise manager Dave Malin says the company is targeting to have the products in stores by mid-November. "[URC] is taking its product and 'badging' it with our brand," he says, adding that there will also be Sound Advice-branded editions for its Florida-based stores of that name.

"It's about getting our brand name out there," explains Malin. "We're building our company's future on home automation and control. So when we can put our name on a product that we know sits on coffee tables and people show to neighbors and friends saying 'this is what made my life simpler' we feel there is a lot of brand value in it."

It doesn't appear that Tweeter is on the verge of offering a full product line of self-branded products. Right now only control products make sense for Tweeter branding, says Malin. "This remote does absolutely nothing until a person comes in and programs it. That person is from Tweeter. Therefore the value-add of the product is us."

If it did, it would have more hard buttons. ;-)

Heh, everytime I start to get jealous of a new fancy touch screen remote I just remember how much easier it is to smash hard buttons and not having to worry about recharging the device for months at a time.

So, we now have URC's own, Crestron's and now Tweeter's version. Am I missing any OEM'd MX-3000's?

And yes, a Surf Remote 3000 would have the buttons that I wanted on the MX-3000 from day one, along with a couple that Mike thought of and I agree with.

Generally speaking, take a TX-1000 and put in a color screen with the MX-3000 software and you'd be close to what I was hoping for, although not as bulky as the TX.
When ignorance is bliss, ‘tis folly to be wise.

Great marketing idea on Tweeter's part. However, I wonder hi clients will feel about having the stores name on their product.

I dont think I would want say...... my in wall speakers to say "Best Buy" on them.

Curious

Branding, it's all about Branding. If your neighbor or family member sees your remote and loves it, well where do you think he or she will go?

All the Tweeter/Sound Advice templates have the Logo on the home page anyway. They have templates they use for URC and Pronto. I will not say they are always used but they are always used when the sell the preconfigured systems. Wouldn't you? They get paid for programming and all they do is load the cookie cutter.

That's the beauty of pre-configured systems, and why not?

Isn't the goal of a universal remote to simulate the ease of use and compatibility you'd get from buying an integrated solution?

Even worse...who would want a big Tweeter ad on their touch screen template? That's like a huge Benjamin Moore logo on each wall you have their paint on. haha

Thank you,
