I just tried to install the Apple TV 4th Gen codes (917) but they don't work with my MX-780. The remote shows its firing an IR command but thats it. I can't even learn from the ATV remote which seems odd to me.

Hey HDMan72,

Fortunately for you this has been a MASSIVE pain in my ass programming 4th gen Apple TV's. I contacted URC and they sent me this file that solved the issue. You need to use the other code set labeled Apple TV in the IR database I believe it is code set 417 and then you need to delete the play/pause/stop buttons that are programmed and use the transporter to load the learned codes from the file I will email you because I can't seem to find a way to load it to here. So send me a private message with your email and ill send you the file

I contacted URC and they sent me the Pronto Hex input which fixed my issue. Thanks!

Don't forget that the Gen4 can learn any codes from any remote.

I taught mine the codes from an old DirecTiVo and then used those codes in my MX-890. Got me some additional features like Jump Back Skip Forward.

I've used the old AppleTV IR codes on every AppleTV4 we've done with URC and ALL of them work perfectly.

The problem I had was if I fast forward or reverse program material on the ATV, play/pause would not work to start playback. Now it works perfect. Go figure

Do we contact URC for the fix for the MX-780?

Use AppleTV 3 Codeset and than add this hex code for play and pause:

0000 006D 0044 0000 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689

Hi, I have the same issue. Would you be able to send me the file and just walk me through how to input the hex code?

You can teach the AppleTV 4 any codes you want. I'm controlling mine using a set of Denon AVR codes.

Does anyone have the complete list of 4th gen Apple TV hex codes? The learning function is nice, I always set a random device that I will NEVER use (like an Akai DVD player) and it works perfectly. Except when the equipment is hidden, the ATV needs to be reset to factory default and then the codes need to be learned again. If I've used the 3rd gen codes with the hex posted above for play and pause, but the skip and FF functions are the same with that.

Where/how do I add the the hex code? I have the MX-980 and the Apple TV 4 (917) is not working.

Click on Tools, then Univeral Browser

Click on the Hex option

paste the code into the window that pops up

click and hold the drag button over to a button in your file.  keep in mind that this won't overwrite any code currently on that button, so you may need to delete the original ir code in the macro window.

Awesome! Thank you @Duct Tape - it worked like a charm. I deleted the previous IR code and dragged over the Hex code! Plus, switching the IR codes from Apple TV 4 to 3 worked as well.
