In CCP, the properties window for the RS-232 ports (7-12) has a check box for enabling the port. Does anyone know if unchecking this turns off the RS-232 signal? This would seem to mean that it is a standard IR emitter when unchecked and therefore negates the need for the sleeved emitters.

I always use a sleeved emitters. I have been told that it will work for a short time without the sleeved emitter but I would not do it at my own house so I will not do it at anyone house.

There is a reason why URC sells the sleeved emitters...
