I am wondering if I can take the IR output of a Xantech connecting block such as this ...

... and hook it up to an MRF-350. Assuming this is possible, will the IR signal be routed to the MRF's emitters, blaster or both?

it might be possible if you want to mess with disassembling and soldering...the question would be why would you want to do that?

the correct solution would be to get a connecting block with enough ports and use dual input emitters, or get another urc rf remote so you don't need the IR repeater kit.

there may be other better solutions as well, but you need to give more information on what you're trying to accomplish.

I am trying to control some IR shutters in my bathroom with an Insteon switch. In order to accomplish this, I will be buying an Insteon IRLinc transmitter ...

It converts Insteon PLC signals into IR signals. For various reasons, it is not practical for me to run individual emitters to each set of shutters. Therefore, I was hoping to use a strategically placed IR blaster to control all three sets of shutters at once. Since I happen to have an extra MRF-350 lying around, I thought I could use it as a blaster. This would also give me the added benefit of being able to control the shutters with a URC remote. I'm pretty sure I can't hook the IRLinc directly up to the MRF, that's why I was considering using the Xantech connecting block as a go between. Am I making any sense?

Don't have much experience in what you are trying to do...

...but I would hedge a guess that you might be able to capture the IR signals, then learn them into a urc remote then control them with the remote - no blaster needed, or to a blaster...though I'd say its unlikely the blaster would be powerful enough to go across the room.

Absolutely. In fact, I have already taught the codes to an MX-900, and they work just fine. What I was hoping to do was operate the shutters with a switch like this ...

Since this switch can be installed in a normal junction box, it makes for a very elegant solution. The only problem is that it requires a bunch of extra equipment to make it work with IR. It's really designed to control Insteon dimmers and other compatible modules. Perhaps I'm better off just getting a KP-900. At some point, we will probably install a TV in the bathroom, so this may be a better way to go anyway.
