I posted this in the installers forum but it was deleted so I'll try again here.

I'm out of my depth on this one and need assistance. If anyone here can help who lives in Australia then maybe easier but help from anyone appreciated (and if there are expenses involved I'll pay).

PROBLEM: As outlined in another post I cannot get my 850 to learn the codes for a recorder. But the distributor has sent me all the codes on an Excel sheet. Difficulty is I cannot see how to translate them into the remote.

I've tried Googling and ringing around with no luck to get help so far. If anyone here can help or point me to an installer who can I'd be very grateful.

Please contact me direct at j_coulsonATbigpond.com

TIA

John

My guess is they sent you a list of hex codes. Basically you need to create a ccf file with the codes and then you can open the ccf with the Universal Browser in the MX Editor and drop the codes onto whatever buttons you want. Search this forum for "makehex" and "hex2ccf" and you'll find lots of threads about the process.

You can also try asking the distributor if they have a Pronto ccf file for the codes instead of just the raw hex. It's a common format that a lot of manufacturers will provide a file for. It might save you the trouble of creating your own (which really isn't that difficult once you know how to use the tools).

Thanks for that Jason. I see this old brain has to bet around another bit of the learning curve.

Sigh.
