I am interested in knowing how you guys set up Zone II (typically) on a remote. If a person is going to listen to cable, cd and tuner do you make a copy of each of these devices on MX-3000 and support the Zone II? Or do you just create one page like the standard zone two remotes that do a little of everything and don't give the customer a devices full ability. For example, they would not be able to use certain settings on the cd player, but they would be able to scroll through songs, etc..

I may post his in the RTI website as well since I am interested in knowing how those technicians do that as well.

Thanks,
V

We use Denon Receivers for simple Zone 2 projects. The discretes for zone 2 are in the URC database. I just create another "device" called ZONE2 under the Listen page. While the customer has that device selected, they are just controlling zone 2 operation.

Can you please be more specific? Describe what capabilites the customer has on teh Zone II device - do you allow cable control? Are there CD/Tuner options?

Thanks

PS - I use Denon 2807 and Yamaha 1700

Look at my other post in the other forum.

On the receiver you would need to make another page for the tuner because you may run into a communication problem. For instance, you select tuner on Zone 2 and go back to the zone 1 controls. Now you want to change the tuner station in z2, Zone one might change also. So some pages need to be seperate and some can be the same.

If you are really confused it is probally easier to make two pages for each source.

Set up different devices for zone 2 (cable,cd,etc.) so you can punch through the zone 2 volume to each device.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

All of my remotes have discrete zone2 power and switching with a jump to the actual device, i.e. cable box, cd, dvd, tuner, ipod, etc. but no punch thru volume from zone1.

Basically any remote I do that has zone2 you will see two identical devices in the programming with one being called for by zone1 and one being called for by zone2. This gives the user full functionality and control of all sources regardless of the zone without interfering with another zones volume.

Obviously multiple sources such as dual cable boxes would be ideal so zone1 can watch a program while zone2 can listen to music choice, but not every customer is up for that.
