I'm using the URC-300 with the MRF-100 Expander located in my equipment cabinet. Everything is working as it should except for controlling my TiVo. It appears that the URC-300 is not learning the TiVo codes properly. I tried powering off the MRF 100 and pointing the URC-300 directly (line of site - about 10 feet) at the Tivo and I get nothing. The TiVo remote works without a problem, but the URC-300 doesn't.

I had read thatTiVo's require less of an IR signal - some suggest taping over the TiVo sensor, moving the emitter, etc. Nothing has worked. Again, because I can not even get the TiVo to respond from the URC-300 when I point it directly at it, I'm assuming the 300 is not learning the commands.

Can anyone offer any help?

Ok, I've gotten the TiVo to recognize commands from the URC-300 when line of site....but I get no response when using the MRF-100. All my other components in the cabinet work fine....just not the TiVo.

As you've read, certain Tivo units have a very sensitive IR receiving eye and are easily overloaded by the MRF-100's emitters. With the MRF-100, 200 or 250, all you can do is try what you've tried, moving the emitter away from the eye and taping over the IR receiving eye.

One trick that is highly useful is to take a piece of electrical tape, poke a pin hole in it, place the tape over the sensor, and place the emitter over the hole in the tape. Let me know if that helps.

I'm actually having trouble blocking the incoming signal....even from the TiVo remote. I've gone as far as placing several (9 or 10) layers of electrical tape over the TiVo sensor and the TiVo still responds to the TiVo remote. I can only successfully block it if I use several pages from a magazine or booklet and place that across the entire front of the TiVo. Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I'm a long way off from resolving this issue. (I can't even block the normal signal, never mind allowing just enough of the blocked signal in to prevent the signal overload.)

Any other tips, steps or tricks are very welcome.

I still have not been able to get my TiVo to work with the URC-300. Do the above suggestions always work or is it common that sometimes it just won't work?
