MX980 w/MSC 400 - Marantz CC4000 5 disc CD player - probably about 5-7 years old. None of the 11 or 12 (can't remember right now) code sets in the URC IRDB will work this unit. I tried all 12 and could not get any of the transport commands to function.

I did not have the factory remote at the time (I do now) so I could not learn. But I can't believe that all 12 in the DB will not function. WTF? Anyone have any ideas?

Excluding a programming issue (i.e. remote set to RF only for that device and you were trying to test it via IR, etc.) anything is possible. Not every device in the world is in anyone's IR DB.

You could import the hex from this file which claims to have the CC4000 device:

Thanks for the link, unfortunately those are RC5 codes and cannot be imported with the Univ Browser. I could download that into an old Pronto and use the Pronto into the MX980. But the customer reported they have finally found the factory remote, so I'll use that instead.

I can't believe URC's IRDB would not have one of the code sets that would work. I think there is something wrong with that portion of their DB (Marantz CDs).

And yes... it isn't an issue with RF or IR being turned off/on etc.. The flasher on the MSC400 is flashing, I've tried adjusting the gain in many ways to see if it's an IR intensity issue. I've done a million URC systems.... way past that part of trouble shooting.

big doh! But an honest doh!

I learned the commands in from the factory remote and it still didn't work.

I'm thinking WTF is the problem here. I put the emitter right over the IR receiver diode. You can plainly see it when you shine a flashlight on the front panel. And yes I had tried lifting the emitter and holding a few inches away from the receiver diode.

So, then I start to notice a little residue on the other side of the front panel, where possibly another emitter had been placed (this was an older CD player that another CI firm had installed with a Niles InteliControl system). Shine my flash light on that area...no receiver diode, but I think, WTF give it a try.. sure enough, it all starts working. No idea why, but it appears I'm not the first one to have to stick an emitter on the wrong side of this CD player. I'm guessing that some of the IRDB commands would work now. Sheesh!!!. I knew that all of those codesets could not be wrong.
