Good evening.

I ordered an 810 recently and it should be here on Monday. I downloaded the software and have been setting up some up some devices in preparation.

One thing that I noticed was that a new update is available. When I click on "Yes" to start the process, it starts downloading things, then I get an error message that says "Fail to save patch file". The update process then appears to just hang. I then click on "Close" and am able to do things with the software.

How do I go about updating the software?

Also, I notice another thread about discrete codes. Are these in the software or do I have to get them somewhere? How would I use the discretes for my Panasonic TV and Pioneer AV Receiver to go directly to an input instead of cycling through?

Thanks for all the help.

I haven't used the MX-810 software yet but with the others you need to run it as administrator in Vista when you do an update.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am able to update the software on my desktop, but I get a simular error message on my laptop.

Right on the program icon, then select "Run as administrator." That should solve the problem.
