Seems this item is rarer'n hens teeth.

I have a customer that purchased two MX3Ks online and one arrived w/the old school "keyed micro USB" connection and a standard mini USB B programming cable.

I've contacted URC and was told that I'm on the list and they will contact me when new inventory of the version 1 cables arrive (from reading the posts here that sounds like, probably, never).

I also contacted my old programmers (I sold my company a couple of years ago and I keep getting dragged back into CI) who are digging through their miscellaneous boxes of cables.

I've also done some extensive research of cable and connector mfgrs to see if I can identify the connector and have also read here that one of the members actually swapped out the errant usb jack in the remote with the compatible USB mini B. I don't exactly see how to crack open the remote to begin that process though am not afraid to try. I have excellent soldering skills!

My question is this; what are my options? Anyone know of a source for the cable or even the plug connection? Or, does anyone know the pin out for the connection (or the DIP jack inside the remote) so that we could interface with the MX-3000?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

So the MX-3000 came with a different cable in earlier versions? I lost my cable and simply used a standard USB Type A to Mini-USB

Try a camera store. I had a Minolta digital camera that used the same cable.

Found it!

The animal I've been looking for (for a version 1 MX-3000) is a USB 4-pin Male (A type) to mini 4-pin Male (A type).

Ran down to Fry's yesterday and of course, had to look in multiple locations, and found a USB/1394 kit with about every connection you could think of in it.

Walked over to the computer section, whipped out my laptop and MX-3000 and fired it up. Works like a champ - downloaded rc file to the remote - should've seen the look on the salesmen's faces! Been working on a more "leopardish" version of Brucks' mac theme interface. Created quite a stir. I'll post some screens as soon as I'm finished.

At any rate, I paid about $25 for an entire kit. Did some research this morning (now that I know what connector it is) and came up with lower cost, or more readily available, solutions.

Belkin model # F3X1724 is a kit similar to the no-name brand I bought. Also, there are multiple links to this cable on the net ranging in price from $2.00 to $15. And, of course, the egg has it for about $1.49 (N82E16812116127). Who would have known. Don't let the pic on the site fool you - just make sure you've got the mini 4-pin male "A".

Going to give URC support a call in the morning and let them know that a solution is, relatively, readily available as they didn't even know what connector was being used.

Thanks for all the posts back and the assistance, gotta get back to work.

P.S.: Bad idea going into Fry's the week after xmas! Ended up leaving with a new mobo/duo-core proc/4 Gig ram/couple HDDs and some new Pelican protection for gear. Oh well..., can always make more money!
