We need more information. What error messages are you getting? Do you have the latest version of ActiveSync?
Give us all the information that you can.

The 'newer' version you downloaded from URC is actually the older version. Your dealer should have provided you with the newest updatable software.

Have you tried a different usb port on your computer?
On my laptop for example, only one port will work with the MX-3000, whereas both ports will work fine with my PDA and phone etc.
I also had a previous laptop (Gateway), that we had to replace since it point blank refused to communicate with some MX-3000's even after trying different versions of activeSync and spending a couple of hours on the phone with URC tech support!

Good point on trying a different USB port.
And ActiveSync is at version 4.1 I believe.
Also, if you are connecting through a USB hub, that can be problematic.
Have you tried uninstalling the MX 3000 Editor, and then deleting the MX-3000 folder in Program Files and then reinstalling?

On my Dell inspiron I have to use an externally powered hub because Dells laptops have issues with providing adequate power for the remote to be reliably connected.
You also need to allow time for active sync to install just as the MX-3000 installation instructions describe. If you don not follow the installation instructions to the letter it will never work. When it says in the MX-3000 manual to wait and do not do anything until... that is exactly what has to be done.
Hope this helps, Ken

Uninstall everything including Active sync. Let the install program do everything through to completion. If you get an error, continue anyway. Do not go into active sync to do anything, ever! The Active sync program has never ever found my remote. Do not plug in the remote yet! When the install is complete, start the editor. Once the editor is up and stable then plug in the remote. The remote should beep twice and you'll get a connect message. It's also a good idea to disconnect the remote before you exit the editor. Additionally you'll have better luck in the long run if you always connect the remote after the software is up and running. Again Active sync has never ever recognized my remote. URC's editor uses Active sync to connect to the remote but the remote does not fully comply with the Active sync protocols.
Email me if you continue to have problems and I'll be happy to try to help you further.

He is correct. I had the darndest time, then i switched USB ports on my brand new tablet PC and it worked like a charm. However there was an issue with a DDL for USB i have to install over and over.
